AI Agent BecknGPT Unveiled
The Foundation for Interoperability in Digital Economy (FIDE) has introduced Beckn Generative Pre-trained Transformer (BecknGPT), an AI agent capable of performing commercial transactions. Built on OpenAI’s ChatGPT, this open-source app can handle tasks like ordering groceries, booking travel, and locating EV charging stations. According to Sujith Nair, co-creator of the Beckn Protocol, the integration of Beckn protocol with AI aims to democratise e-commerce and remove digital access barriers (ETech).
Seamless Multi-Network Transactions
BecknGPT’s standout feature is its ability to execute inter-network transactions, seamlessly switching between different open networks. Demonstrations at the Beckn Bengaluru Meetup showed the AI chatbot efficiently handling various requests—from purchasing personal finance books to finding nearby charging stations. This multi-network interoperability exemplifies the potential for AI to streamline digital interactions across diverse sectors, from healthcare to retail.
Future Potential and Developer Opportunities
Although not a product launch, BecknGPT serves as a prototype to inspire further innovations. Ravi Prakash of FIDE emphasised that developers are encouraged to build on this technology. BecknGPT acts as an intelligent assistant capable of navigating networks like the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and Unified Energy Interface, making it a versatile tool for enhancing e-commerce and digital services.
