A recent report from the AI-Enabled ICT Workforce Consortium reveals that 92% of IT jobs will undergo significant transformation due to advancements in AI, CIO reports. The most affected roles will be mid-level and entry-level positions, where manual tasks are increasingly automated. Critical skills like AI literacy, data analytics, and rapid engineering are expected to rise in importance, while traditional IT skills may become less relevant.
Industry Leaders Push for Reskilling
To address these changes, the consortium, including industry giants like Cisco, IBM, and Microsoft, emphasises the need for workers to reskill and upskill. Their collective goal is to train and upskill 95 million people over the next decade, ensuring that the workforce remains competitive in the AI-driven landscape.
A Commitment to Inclusive Training
Key members of the consortium have made substantial commitments to training. For instance, Cisco aims to train 25 million people in digital skills by 2032, while IBM plans to train 30 million by 2030, focusing on AI. These efforts underscore the industry’s commitment to preparing the workforce for the future of technology.
