The spectre of deepfaking; will it be expelled from us? Apple finally embarks on removing deep-faking apps from its App Store, after continued pressure.
Apple’s Crackdown on Harmful AI Nude Apps
In response to mounting concerns, Apple has taken decisive action against harmful AI apps that enable the creation of nonconsensual nude images. The move comes as a stark contrast to previous criticisms of the tech giant’s inaction in policing such applications on its App Store (Times of India).
Taking a Stand Against Misuse
Generative AI, while a powerful tool for creativity, has increasingly become a platform for the creation of deepfakes and revenge porn. Apple’s removal of these apps reflects its commitment to combating the misuse of AI technology and protecting user privacy and dignity.
Upholding Responsible AI Practices
