Dialogue as a Key Focus at NCD Youth Summit
Governor Powes Parkop of the National Capital District has called for a shift from monologues to dialogue in the work of government agencies and organisations, emphasising the need for greater collaboration, reports the Sunday Bulletin. Addressing over 200 youth participants and representatives from various UN agencies at the NCD Youth Summit and Expo, Parkop highlighted the importance of preparing young people to navigate the challenges of economic development, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence. He urged his fellow governors to create more opportunities for youth across Papua New Guinea.
Empowering Future Leaders
During the summit, workshops and panel discussions centred around three key themes: promoting quality education for all, ensuring accessible learning opportunities, and equipping youth with the necessary skills and networks to advocate for inclusive growth. The sessions aimed to inspire and empower participants with strategies for overcoming barriers to education and preparing for leadership roles in a rapidly changing world.
Governor’s Vision for Youth Development
Parkop underscored the importance of holding similar summits at various levels throughout the country to extend the benefits of such initiatives to a broader audience. He expressed gratitude to all participating organisations for their support and emphasised the role of the youth as future leaders of Papua New Guinea, stressing the need for their preparation to meet the demands of modern technology and economic change.
