Developed by Dr. Kioumars Ghamkhar, this innovative system precisely targets unwanted weed species in pastures and crops, reducing the need for environmentally harmful chemical herbicides. The AI software identifies and distinguishes between weeds and crops, directing lasers to eliminate the unwanted plants without disturbing the soil or leaving chemical residues.

Map & Zap offers a more efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional weed control methods, such as manual or mechanical weeding. The technology is designed to be adaptable, capable of being mounted on various vehicles, including drones and robots, making it accessible for different agricultural settings. By minimising crop damage and reducing labour costs, this technology enhances crop yields while maintaining environmental sustainability.

After successful trials on vineyards in New Zealand’s South Island, Map & Zap has proven its effectiveness in complex agricultural environments, such as pastures where crops and weeds often overlap.
