AI in Bid Monitoring
A new AI-driven initiative by the United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) aims to curb bid rigging in public contracts, reports MSN. By analysing patterns and identifying irregularities, the technology promises to enhance transparency and save taxpayer money.
Strengthening Public Trust
Authorities believe AI could play a pivotal role in restoring faith in public procurement by ensuring a fair and competitive process. According to CMA boss, Emma Cardell, the initiative is designed to reduce significant risk of bid rigging by using AI to scour data and identify areas of possible monopolising activity which affects the tendering process. Early trials have shown promising results, but critics question whether algorithms can detect the nuanced strategies of sophisticated fraudsters.
