Clarivate Plc, best known for its web reference organising tool (Endnote) used by USP students, has introduced the Web of Science™ Research Assistant, a new generative AI-powered tool designed to enhance the research process. Launched on September 4, 2024, this tool combines a chat interface with the Web of Science knowledge graph to help researchers quickly locate key papers, manage complex tasks, and visualise data connections. The assistant leverages 120 years of publication and citation data, promising to significantly improve research discovery and analytics.
Advanced Features for Researchers
The Web of Science Research Assistant offers several advanced features, including flexible natural language search, context-specific guided prompts, and unique data visualisations. Researchers can perform searches in multiple languages and receive comprehensive overviews of their field. The tool provides guided prompts to refine research tasks and generate trend graphs and co-citation networks for deeper insights into various topics.
Development and Future Enhancements
Developed in collaboration with global librarians and researchers, the tool entered beta testing in December 2023. Clarivate has emphasised its commitment to quality, accuracy, and privacy through its development process. Future enhancements will continue to be guided by community feedback, ensuring the tool evolves to meet the needs of the research community.
