AI-Generated Radio: A New Way to Customise Music
YouTube Music is testing an AI-generated radio feature that allows users to create custom radio stations by describing what they want to hear. Currently available to select Premium users in the U.S., this feature lets users request specific music styles, like “catchy pop choruses” or “upbeat pop anthems.” This development follows similar AI playlist generation tools from Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer, enhancing user engagement through personalised listening experiences.
Enhanced Song Recognition Tool
In addition to the AI radio feature, YouTube Music has introduced a song recognition tool. This new function enables users to identify songs by singing, humming, or playing parts of them. Accessible via a waveform icon in the app’s search function, it expands the ways users can discover music. This Shazam-like tool is designed to simplify song identification, making it easier for users to connect with their favourite tunes.
Future Rollout and User Accessibility
Although these features are currently limited to select users, YouTube Music plans to expand access in the future. The AI radio feature includes a conversational UI where users can enter custom prompts or choose suggested ones, further personalising their music experience.
