July 15, 2024Google AI Introduces Pixel Screenshots Feature
Google’s upcoming Pixel 9 phones will debut new AI capabilities, including a “Pixel Screenshots” feature, according to Android Authority. Unlike Microsoft’s controversial Recall tool, which automatically captures user activities, Pixel Screenshots processes only manually taken screenshots. This distinction could make it feel less intrusive, although concerns about data processing and storage remain. Users can toggle the AI processing feature on or off and use it to summarise or query screenshot details. Google also saves metadata like links and app names to enhance search functionality.
Expanding AI in Google Photos
In addition to Pixel Screenshots, Google plans to introduce AI-driven search capabilities in Google Photos. This will help users easily navigate through their photo collections. The AI advancements don’t stop there. Google is reportedly working on a new photo editing tool called “Add Me,” which allows users to add individuals to group photos, surpassing the current “Best Take” feature. Another rumoured addition is a Studio tool for generating stickers and images using AI.
Upcoming Hardware Event Teases More AI Features
Google hinted at these AI features in a teaser for its surprise hardware event on August 13th. The Pixel 9 is expected to come in three sizes and feature a redesigned camera setup. The integration of these AI tools signals a significant push by Google to enhance user experience through advanced AI functionalities, setting the stage for the next generation of smartphones.
