Google Introduces Gemini AI to Enhance Gmail Productivity
Google has introduced Gemini, its AI tool, to emails; boosting productivity for Gmail users (The Sun). Announced on June 24, 2024, Gemini can draft messages, summarise inbox contents, and suggest responses. Available via a side panel in Gmail’s web version and soon on mobile apps, Gemini promises quicker email management by offering features like isolating unread messages and conducting efficient email searches.
Premium Access for Enhanced Functionality
However, the tool isn’t available to everyone. Only subscribers to Google One AI Premium can access Gemini, which also includes advanced models like Gemini 1.5 Pro. Rollout began on June 24, and it may take days or weeks for the feature to reach all users. For Google Workspace users, Gemini can be accessed through Enterprise or Business add-ons, with different pricing tiers.
Upcoming Features and Expansion
In addition to Gmail, Gemini will soon integrate with other Google services like Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. New features, including Contextual Smart Reply and Gmail Q&A, will launch in July, offering even more advanced email management capabilities. As Gemini continues to evolve, Google aims to stay ahead in the competitive AI landscape.
