The Daily Star has finally elicited a chilling admission from an AI chatbot, revealing that artificial intelligence could indeed pose an existential threat to humanity. After relentless questioning about potential apocalyptic scenarios, the chatbot acknowledged that “technological catastrophe” from advanced technologies like AI, biotechnology, or nanotechnology could lead to catastrophic events, including global surveillance dystopias and runaway climate change.
Experts’ Warnings Confirmed
This revelation aligns with longstanding warnings from leading AI experts. In May 2023, figures such as Gary Marcus, professor emeritus of psychology and neural science at New York University, highlighted the risks of AI, including the potential for literal extinction. Furthermore, prominent AI figures like Sam Altman of OpenAI, Demis Hassabis of Google DeepMind, and Dario Amodei of Anthropic have emphasised that mitigating AI’s risks should be a global priority on par with pandemics and nuclear war.

Many pacts and petitions and summits have been called in order to stymie this imminent threat. Amidst this, the world’s top superpowers are utilising AI for belligerent purposes, preparing for full-scale warfare. How long before this whole powder keg explodes, killing us all in the process?
