A recent report by Imperva Threat Research reveals a startling statistic: non-human sources, primarily bots, contribute to almost half of all internet traffic. This finding supports the “dead internet theory,” initially dismissed as a conspiracy (which originated on 4chan) but now gaining traction as AI-driven bots proliferate (DailyAI).

While some bots like Google’s web crawlers serve beneficial purposes, a significant portion—32%—are classified as “bad bots.” These malicious agents engage in fraudulent activities such as data harvesting and click fraud, posing a threat to online security.
