From Popes to Pooches: Google’s Gemini AI Struggles to Reflect Real World Diversity!
March 18, 2024Islands In Peril: Doomsday Clock Strikes 90 Seconds – Immediate Action Needed!
March 19, 2024According to AI News, McAfee (a computer security company) has introduced an innovative AI-powered deepfake audio detection technology named Project Mockingbird at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2024. This exclusive technology has the potential to shield consumers from the increasing threat of cybercriminals deploying fabricated, AI-generated audio for scams, cyberbullying, and manipulating public figures’ images- threats that are unfortunately very real and exploitative in the Pacific Islands and where there is limited Cyber Crime support.
Combating Misinformation:
This technology achieves an impressive 90% ACCURACY RATE! Misinformation and ‘Fake News’ are particularly rampant where cyber-awareness is lacking thus, making us a susceptible target since lack of awareness on the exploits of AI is detrimental yet less known by the public. Project Mockingbird, if adopted, offers us a fighting chance to detect deepfakes and prevent us from being the next victims of AI’s dark side.
As we navigate various challenges including elections (such as those upcoming in Tuvalu and the Solomon Islands in 2024), we need to start equipping ourselves with an effective defence against deepfakes that can distort reality and make us question the integrity of any event or communication which takes place in the region.
