Imagine tuning in to news updates delivered by AI anchors, offering a fresh perspective on the day’s events. With trust in traditional human news presenters on the decline, AI technology aims to rebuild confidence by tailoring news content to individual preferences. Translating it for our region, we could all have AI news anchors who curate and present personalized news to us depending on what we are interested in- everyone’s news line-up would be unique!
Challenges and Opportunities:
With this technology, the Islands may witness a shift in news consumption habits, as AI aims to replicate the personal connection viewers have with human anchors (a phenomenon known as ‘Para social Bonding’). However, questions arise about the ability of AI to fully replace human involvement in news reporting with issues such as ‘hallucinations’, where AI tools may generate inaccurate content. The need for a human-in-the-loop approach, with humans overseeing scripts and ensuring accuracy, or conducting interview with real people, highlight the potential for collaboration between AI and human expertise.
